Windows 11…its a Free upgrade – All you need to know

After joining the $2 Trillion Club with Apple recently, Microsoft released its Windows 11.

• Windows 11 is now official.
• Microsoft’s new Windows 11 OS released after 6 years of Windows 10 from 2015.
“It’s the beginning of a new generation,” says Microsoft President and CEO, Satya Nadella. He also exclaims that “Windows isn’t just an operating system. It is a platform for platforms.”
• The update, which is being called the “next generation” of Windows, comes with a massive redesign over its predecessor, starting from an all-new boot screen and start up sound to a centrally placed Start menu and improved widgets.
• Windows 11 also removes selective elements from the previous versions including the “Hi Cortana” feature from the welcome screen and Live Tiles.
• The Redmond giant, Washington-based company is essentially focused to thwart the likes of macOS and Chrome OS with its latest operating system.

Windows 11 features
• A New interface for the Windows 10 users
• A fresh setup screen with a fresh look and across all core Windows features.
• Rounded corners on menus and windows akin to the Apple iPadOS release.
• Start menu at the centre but an available option to change in its settings.
• No Live Tiles but displays recommended apps at the bottom.
• Dedicated search button next to the Start menu to allow users search across apps and preloaded functions on the latest Windows platform.
• New sounds and alerts, new start sound, new themes, wallpapers, dark mode, and an updated widgets experience.
• A new experience of Snap Layout that can be used for future access are called Snap Groups.
• Improved support for multiple monitors and virtual desktops similar to Apple’s macOS.
• Improved touch keyboard, preloaded virtual keyboards, GIFs integration from Tenor, voice dictation support.
• Gesture writing support, especially on mobile devices, Haptic feedback added for stylus pen.
• Integrated Teams within Windows 11 while removing the Skype feature.
• The Edge browser comes with vertical tab support.
• For PC Gamers, Support for Auto HDR and DirectX 12, xCloud integration for cloud gaming, Xbox Game Pass access.
• On Microsoft Store front

  • Improved search capabilities and design.
  • Microsoft allows developers to provide their apps through Microsoft Store without taking any commission.
  • Revamped Entertainment tab to with the latest media content.
  • Wireless casting to smart TVs.
  • Integration with Amazon Appstore to for Android apps support in PCs.
  • Apps like Adobe Creative Cloud, Disney+, TikTok, Zoom, and windows native apps like Microsoft Teams, Visual Studio, Notepad and Paint are made available in the store.

• Windows 11 will receive 40 percent smaller Windows updates with improvements to deliver better battery life on mobile devices.
Windows 11 Is a Free Upgrade for All Windows 10 Users with the following minimum requirements.

  • 64-bit processor
  • 1GHz dual-core CPU
  • 64GB storage
  • 4GB RAM
  • UEFI, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0
  • DirectX 12 compatible graphics/WDDM 2.x
  • The notable spec upgrades are the requirement for a 64-bit processor, at least 4GB RAM (up from 2GB), and the upgrade to TPM 2.0 (up from TPM 1.2).
    Windows 11 may force some existing Windows 10 users to delay upgrading for shortly.
